Dhana Saviya is a national economic program conducted by the Ministry of Primary Industries. Through the Dhana Saviya gardening scheme, the Ministry aims facilitate the distribution of free agricultural crops amongst 1,000,000 industrious women in home gardens island-wide along with the required training and knowledge to cultivate these crops with the purpose of economically strengthening and to encouraging women.
Dhana Saviya, recently launched an Anthurium plantation project in Ampara. The project is expected to generate a high income for women entrepreneurs in the area and has planned to bring international value to their plantations by exports.
The implemented program and export crop yield is projected to generate an income of Rs.1 billion to the national economy while supplementing the lives of one million women island wide.
